The Story of Party Packs

Back in the 80’s, party suppliers were few and far between and little attention was paid to the business opportunity a party or themed occasion could provide. But Kate Turner, founder of Party Packs, saw an opportunity and although met with scepticism along the way, she endured and created a first-of-its-kind company that still thrives today.

  • 1980

    Sowing The Seed...

    Kate, fresh out of University, organised a successful Halloween night for Ushers Brewery. This sparked the idea for Party Packs for Pubs.

  • 1986

    Royal Triumph

    Kate seized the opportunity of the Royal Wedding, creating Royal Wedding Celebration Packs from her farm's Apple Store, they were a huge success.

  • 1990

    Family Focus...

    Shifting to focus on supplying family events due to budget constraints, Kate dropped 'for Pubs' from the company name and introduced Children's Packs.

  • 1995

    The World Wide Web...

    VE Day 50th Celebrations led to a warehouse expansion. Kate also pioneered one of the UK's first internet party supply sites.

  • 2004

    Changing Times...

    Catalogues phased out as the internet expanded the product range from 1,400 to around 18,000.

  • 2008

    The Big Move...

    With 30 employees, Party Packs moved to a 10,000 sq ft warehouse to enable dispatch or more orders to our increasing customers.

  • 2018

    New Management…

    After many years working for Party Packs Maire took over running the business from Kate, who continues to remain very much involved.

  • 2019

    Big Re-launch…

    A major website re-launch and company rebranding to meet modern demands, marked a milestone in Party Packs' long history

  • 2021

    UK Production…

    Expanding the print and production operation allowed for the manufacturing of flags and bunting on-site in Somerset.

  • 2026

    Celebrating 40 Years of Party Packs

    In 2026, Party Packs proudly celebrates 40 years in business. What began in 1986 as a small venture run by founder Kate from an outbuilding on her Somerset farm has grown into one of the UK's leading online party and celebration suppliers. While much has changed over the past four decades, our passion for helping people celebrate life's special moments remains exactly the same.
